Toyota Caldina Body Kit Fitment Guide: Generation & Facelift

Toyota Caldina Body Kit Fitment Guide: Generation, Facelift, and Part-Level Compatibility

Written by Dmitrii Podobriaev, founder of Body Kit Online Store. 20+ years in structural composites, originally from marine construction. Automotive manufacturing since 2013. Fitment data in this guide is compiled from production records and customer orders across all three Caldina generations.

Published: May 2026 | Last updated: May 2026 | Reading time: 12 min Applies to: Toyota Caldina T190 (1992–2002), T210/215 (1997–2002), T241/246 (2002–2007)

Quick answer: Toyota Caldina body kit fitment is determined by three factors: chassis generation (T190, T210/215, or T241/246), build date within the generation (both T210/215 and T241/246 have facelifts that changed front bumper and accessory geometry), and part type (bumpers, arch flares, strut bars, and grilles each carry specific compatibility notes). Body Kit Online Store stocks generation-specific and facelift-specific parts for all three Caldina generations. Using registration year instead of the build date on the compliance plate is the most common ordering error on this platform.

The Toyota Caldina body kit buyer's guide covers which generation to order for and what parts are available. This guide goes one level deeper: whether a specific part fits your specific car, and what to check before the order is placed.

The central fact is that "T210/215" is not a single fitment window. Parts manufactured for the pre-facelift body (1997–1999) do not fit the post-facelift body (1999–2001) at the front of the car. Front bumpers, front lips, and grilles are split into two separate product ranges across those two body variants. The same pattern applies to the T241/246 generation, where a restyling at approximately 2004/05 created a second compatibility window. The buyer's guide tells you which generation to order. This guide tells you which side of the facelift you are on.

The Three-Step Fitment Check

Ordering a Caldina body kit part correctly requires three pieces of information.

Step 1: Chassis code. The chassis code identifies the generation. For T241/246 owners, it also determines which front strut bar specification applies. The chassis code is stamped on the compliance plate in the engine bay, mounted on the firewall or inner fender strut tower. It appears in a format beginning with AT, ST, CT, AZT, or ZZT followed by three digits.

Step 2: Generation. T190, T210/215, and T241/246 use different body structures with different bumper mounting geometry, panel profiles, and arch dimensions. Parts do not cross generations. The Toyota Caldina body kit hub covers the dimensional comparison in full, including the 120 mm wheelbase difference between the T241/246 and the earlier generations.

Step 3: Build date. This is the step most buyers skip. T210/215 cars produced before the 2000 facelift have a different front bumper profile, headlight surround, and grille geometry from T210/215 cars produced after the facelift. Body Kit Online Store lists product fitment by build date range, not model year range. Registration year and build date can differ by months to over a year on grey-import Caldinas, which covers a large share of the international owner base. The compliance plate build date is the correct reference.

T190: AT191, ST191, CT196, ST195

The T190 generation ran from November 1992 to August 1997 for the wagon body. All four T190 wagon chassis codes share the same exterior panel geometry. AT191 (7A-FE 1.8 petrol, FWD), ST191 (3S-FE 2.0 petrol, FWD), CT196 (2C-T 2.0 diesel, FWD), and ST195 (3S-GTE 2.0T turbo, AWD) all receive the same front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, and arch components. The performance flagship ST195 and the base AT191 share identical exterior fitment. Engine specification and drivetrain do not affect panel geometry.

No facelift-driven compatibility split exists within the T190 wagon production run. T190 production ended in 1997 for the wagon, before the 2000 facelift that affects T210/215 parts. T190 buyers have one fitment question to answer: wagon or van.

Wagon and van confirmation. Caldina van body codes run in the 196–199 range (CT196V, CT197V, CT198V, CT199V). The van uses a different body structure from the wagon, with a boxy rear section, distinct roof profile, and leaf spring rear suspension. Van body panels do not share geometry with wagon panels. If your vehicle is a Caldina van, confirm this before ordering and contact the store directly.

Export market identification. The T190 Caldina was sold in Europe as the Carina E and in New Zealand as the Corona. These cars do not carry "Caldina" badging. The chassis code on the compliance plate identifies the platform regardless of market name. AT191, ST191, CT196, and ST195 codes confirm T190 Caldina fitment. Order T190 parts.

The T190 FRP hood is a full replacement panel. The OEM steel hood is removed and the FRP unit mounts using the original hinges. A dry-fit alignment check before paint is required: FRP panel thickness and pivot geometry affect where the bonnet closes at the cowl and fender edges.

T210/215: The Facelift Split

The T210/215 generation ran from September 1997 to September 2002. In late 1999, Toyota introduced a facelift that changed the front bumper profile, headlight design, grille surround, rear light clusters, and instrument cluster. Body Kit Online Store stocks separate parts for the pre-facelift and post-facelift body variants.

This split affects ordering on front lip spoilers, grilles, and bumper-adjacent trim. The Hiro front lip exists as two distinct products: one listed for 1997–1999 production and one for 1999–2001 production. Ordering the 1997–1999 lip for a post-facelift car means the mounting geometry will not align.

How to identify which variant you have. The compliance plate build date is the most reliable indicator. Products pages at Body Kit Online Store split T210/215 parts at approximately 1999. If your compliance plate shows a 1999 build date, the facelift status is borderline. In that case, send a photograph of the front of the car. Pre-facelift cars have the original headlight unit with a yellow indicator housing integrated into the bumper. Post-facelift cars have revised headlights, clear rear light clusters, and a different front bumper face. A visual confirmation is faster and more reliable than reasoning from a borderline date.

All four chassis codes share the same exterior geometry. AT211 (7A-FE 1.8, FWD), ST210 (3S-FE 2.0, FWD), ST215 (3S-GE BEAMS VVT-i, AWD), and ST215W (3S-GTE turbo, AWD) all take the same front bumper, side skirts, arch flares, and rear bumper for their respective production window. Both ST215 and ST215W are AWD; the difference between them is engine specification (naturally aspirated versus turbocharged). Neither drivetrain configuration affects bumper mounting geometry, skirt mounting, or fender flare fitment. Order by generation and build date, not by engine variant.

The T210/215 is the most extensively developed Caldina generation in the Body Kit Online Store catalog. Available parts include Ducks Garden front and rear bumpers (

T241/246: MC Platform and the 2004/05 Facelift

The T241/246 generation ran from September 2002 to June 2007, built on Toyota's MC platform. The wheelbase is 2,700 mm, 120 mm longer than either the T190 or T210/215. No T190 or T210/215 part fits the T241/246. A 2002 Caldina could be either a T210/215 (if built before September 2002) or a T241/246 (if built from September 2002 onward). The chassis code confirms which applies, not the calendar year.

This generation also has a facelift. Toyota restyled the T241/246 at approximately January 2005, introducing revised front bumpers, a new grille surround, and new rear lamp clusters. GT-Four C/N Editions were discontinued at this facelift; all remaining T241/246 production ran until June 2007 in the revised body.

Grilles for the T241/246 are stocked across both production windows at Body Kit Online Store. TRD grilles are listed for both 2002–2004 and 2005–2007. Hiro and Gialla grilles are listed for 2002–2004. C-One grilles are listed in both 2002–2004 and 2004–2007 variants. Front bumper covers are produced for the 2002–2004 body. Use the compliance plate build date to determine which variant applies.

Chassis code matters for strut bars. The T241/246 catalog includes front strut bars in two specifications: one for AZ/ZZ chassis codes (ZZT241 1.8L petrol, AZT241 2.0L direct injection, AZT246 2.0L 4WD) and a separate C-One unit for the ST246 (3S-GTE turbo, AWD). Both front strut bars and the rear strut bar and rear subframe bar are structural products ordered separately from body panels. Confirm your chassis code before ordering a T241/246 front strut bar.

ST246 C-Edition and N-Edition. Both carry the 3S-GTE turbocharged AWD drivetrain. The N-Edition adds a Torsen rear LSD, Recaro front seats, and a front upper strut bar as standard. Neither edition differs in exterior body panel geometry. The same bumper covers, grilles, and bonnet cover fit both. Confirm whether your ST246 is pre- or post-facelift using the compliance plate build date.

Part-Type Fitment Notes

Different part types carry different fitment requirements even within the same generation. The following covers practical checks for each category.

Front bumpers. Direct panel replacements. Fog light housings transfer from the OEM bumper where applicable. Generation and build date are the two required inputs at time of order. Hardware for mounting is not included.

Front lips. Bolt-on or adhesive-mounted additions to the front bumper lower edge. Year-split on T210/215 as detailed above. The lip mounts to the bumper face, not the chassis, so bumper fitment is the primary constraint.

Side skirts. No arch cutting required. The skirt bonds and clips to the rocker panel sill. T210/215 Hiro side skirts cover the full rocker length. Before bonding, inspect the inner sill condition. On a 20- to 25-year-old T210/215, corroded inner sill metal reduces the adhesive bond. Treat any rust and confirm structural integrity before the skirt goes on.

Fender arch flares. Arch cutting is required. The flare extends over the cut arch lip and adds to the wheel arch opening profile. Before ordering, confirm the desired overhang extent and whether your installer can cut the arch to the correct line. Incorrect cuts cannot be reversed. The step-by-step body kit installation guide covers the arch cut and dry-fit sequence. For a direct assessment of which stages need professional tooling, see the wide body kit DIY vs professional guide.

Bonnet and bonnet cover. The T190 FRP hood is a full panel replacement requiring hinge transfer from the OEM unit and a dry-fit alignment check before paint. The T241/246 bonnet cover is a plastic overlay mounted over the existing hood; no hinge modification is required and installation complexity is lower. Confirm which type applies to your generation before ordering.

Grilles. All Caldina grilles are generation-specific and, for T210/215 and T241/246, also production-year-specific within the generation. Product pages list the year range. Match the year range to your compliance plate build date before ordering.

Strut bars. T210/215 uses Cusco front and rear strut bars and a front subframe spacer, all ordered separately from body panels. T241/246 has two front strut bar variants (AZ/ZZ and ST246 C-One specification) plus rear and subframe bars. T190 does not carry a strut bar product. Strut bars do not require facelift-split consideration.

Pre-Order Confirmation Process

Before placing an order for any Caldina body panel or trim part, send two photographs to Body Kit Online Store.

Photograph 1: The compliance plate. Located in the engine bay, on the firewall or inner fender strut tower. It shows the chassis code and the build date as month and year of manufacture. This one photograph answers the generation question, the year-split question, and the strut bar variant question simultaneously.

Photograph 2: The front quarter panel. A photograph of the front of the car confirms whether the bumper and headlight combination matches the pre-facelift or post-facelift profile. For a borderline build date, the visual confirmation is faster and more reliable than inference from the date alone.

Common Fitment Mistakes

Using registration year instead of build date. Registration year and build date can differ by six months to over a year on grey-import Caldinas. Use the compliance plate build date.

Ordering T210/215 pre-facelift parts for a post-facelift car. Front lips and grille-area trim that fit a 1998 T210/215 do not align on a 2001 T210/215. The year-split products are not interchangeable.

Assuming ST215W (AWD, turbocharged) needs different exterior parts than ST215 (AWD, naturally aspirated). The drivetrain difference is entirely internal. Both use identical exterior panels. Both are AWD; the engine is the only meaningful difference between them.

Ordering T210/215 parts for a T241/246 because production years overlap. T210/215 production ran until September 2002. T241/246 started September 2002. A 2002 Caldina could be either generation. The chassis code, not the year, confirms which.

Ordering T241/246 strut bars without specifying chassis code. The AZ/ZZ specification and the ST246 C-One specification are different products. Check your chassis code before ordering.

Ordering wagon parts for a Caldina van. Van body codes (196V–199V) share the number range with wagon codes but use a different body structure. Wagon kits do not fit the van.

Sending registration documentation instead of the compliance plate. Registration documents show the registration date, not the build date. They do not identify the chassis code reliably across all international markets. The compliance plate is the only authoritative source.

Ordering and Delivery

Hardware (bolts, rivets, panel clips, and panel adhesive) is not included with any Caldina body kit part and must be sourced locally before installation begins. International freight is included in the listed price.

For production timelines, delivery estimates by region, and payment methods, see the Toyota Caldina body kit buyer's guide. For step-by-step panel installation, see the wide body kit installation guide.

FAQ

Where is the build date on a Toyota Caldina? The build date is on the compliance plate in the engine bay, mounted on the firewall or inner fender strut tower. It shows the month and year of manufacture. This is not the same as the registration date or the first inspection date. Use the compliance plate build date when confirming fitment for any body kit part.

How do I know if my T210/215 Caldina is pre-facelift or post-facelift? The compliance plate build date is the most reliable indicator. Product pages at Body Kit Online Store split T210/215 parts at approximately 1999. Cars built in early to mid-1999 are pre-facelift. Cars built from approximately late 1999 onward are post-facelift. Visually, pre-facelift cars have the original headlight unit with a yellow indicator housing integrated into the front bumper. Post-facelift cars have revised headlights, clear rear light clusters, and a different front bumper face. If the build date is borderline, send a front quarter photograph for visual confirmation before ordering.

Will a 1999 Toyota Caldina T210/215 take pre-facelift or post-facelift parts? A car built in early to mid-1999 takes pre-facelift parts. A car built from approximately late 1999 onward takes post-facelift parts. Check the build month on the compliance plate, not the year alone. If the build month is September 1999 or later, order post-facelift products.

Does the ST215W GT-T need different body kit parts than the ST215 GT? No. The ST215W and ST215 have identical exterior body panels. Both are AWD. The ST215W carries the 3S-GTE turbocharged engine; the ST215 carries the 3S-GE BEAMS naturally aspirated engine. The engine and drivetrain differences are internal and have no effect on bumper, skirt, or arch flare fitment. Order by generation and build date.

Does the T241/246 facelift affect body kit fitment? Yes. Toyota restyled the T241/246 at approximately January 2005, changing the front bumper, grille surround, and rear lamp clusters. Grilles and bumper covers for the T241/246 are stocked in two year ranges at Body Kit Online Store. Confirm your compliance plate build date and match it to the product page year range before ordering.

Can I fit T210/215 side skirts without cutting the body? Yes. T210/215 side skirts bond and clip to the rocker panel sill without arch cutting. Arch flares require cutting; side skirts do not. Before bonding, inspect the inner sill. Corroded sill metal on older T210/215 cars reduces adhesive bond strength.

My Caldina is registered as a Carina E or Corona. Which parts do I order? Order T190 parts. The Carina E (European market) and Corona (New Zealand market) are the T190 Caldina sold under different market names. AT191, ST191, CT196, and ST195 are T190 chassis codes; the compliance plate confirms this regardless of badging or market name.

Are the T241/246 strut bars the same for all chassis codes in that generation? No. Body Kit Online Store stocks two front strut bar specifications for T241/246: one for AZ/ZZ chassis codes (ZZT241, AZT241, AZT246) and one for the ST246 (C-One unit). The rear strut bar and rear subframe bar cover all T241/246 chassis codes. Specify your chassis code when ordering a T241/246 front strut bar.

What photos should I send to confirm Caldina fitment before ordering? Two photographs: one of the compliance plate showing the chassis code and build date, and one of the front quarter panel showing the current bumper and headlight configuration. These two images confirm generation, build date, and facelift status together. Send them via Telegram, Messenger, WhatsApp, or email before placing an order on any borderline fitment case.

Does the ST246 N-Edition need different body parts than the ST246 C-Edition? No. The N-Edition and C-Edition ST246 share the same exterior body panels. The N-Edition adds a Torsen rear LSD, Recaro front seats, and a front upper strut bar as standard equipment; none of these affect bumper, skirt, or grille fitment. Both editions were produced until the January 2005 facelift. Confirm pre- or post-facelift status using the compliance plate build date.

What is the difference between the T190 FRP hood and the T241/246 bonnet cover? The T190 FRP hood is a full panel replacement. The OEM steel hood is removed, and the FRP unit mounts using the original hinges. A dry-fit alignment check is required before paint, as FRP panel thickness affects close geometry at the cowl and fender edges. The T241/246 bonnet cover is a plastic overlay mounted over the existing hood panel. No hinge modification is required. The installation complexity is lower and no chassis metalwork is involved.
